What steps are involved in making these pendants?

Each pendant is fired twice in a glass kiln. The first firing fuses the three layers of glass (including the ashes) together. After the glass has properly annealed (cooled), I remove the piece from the kiln and using a glass grinder, shape it to exactly fit one of the sterling silver mountings that I designed especially for these pendants. Once I have achieved the exact size and shape the glass goes back into the kiln for a final firing. After that I affix the glass in the sterling silver mounting, completing your custom piece.

How do you put the ashes into the pendants?

Each pendant consists of 3 layers of art glass and beautiful dichroic glass that are fused together at temperatures up to 1500 degrees. I will neatly tuck a small quantity of your pet’s ashes out-of-site between the bottom two layers of glass. Using this method you will not see your pet’s ashes. If you prefer to have your pet’s ashes visible (between the top two layers of glass), you will be able to mark that option on the form that I send to you with the vial to collect the ashes.

How much of my pet’s ashes should I send to you?

I include this information with instructions when I send you the packaging with the vial and spoon for retrieval of some of the ashes. I use less than ¼ tsp in the creation of each pendant and return any unused ashes to you with your completed pendant.

How can I be sure that the ashes I send you are the ashes you use?

I consider the job of creating your pendant an honor. I take the job very seriously and understand the emotions involved in your decision to honor your pet(s) with a Rainbow Bridge Pendant. The vial that you return to me with your pet’s ashes is clearly marked with your name to avoid any confusion or mix-ups. In addition, I make only one Rainbow Bridge Pendant at a time to ensure that there can be no mix-ups. I too am a pet lover and treat your pet’s remains with the utmost care, dignity and respect. Your completed pendant comes with a document certifying that I have used the ashes that you provided to me in the creation of your Rainbow Bridge Pendant.

How long does it take to make a Rainbow Bridge Pendant?

You should plan on two to three weeks before you will receive your finished pendant. Most of the time is taken up in shipping. I will send you a package to retrieve some ashes and then you will send the ashes to me in the pre-paid Priority Mail container. When I receive the package from you I will send you an Email letting you know that I have begun my work. I will then custom make the pendant to your exact specifications, which requires two firings in a glass kiln. I like to have a full week to create your piece. I want to ensure it is a beautiful piece of superior quality. Once completed, the pendant will be sent to you via USPS Priority Mail.

Do you offer volume discounts?

Yes! The first piece of each order is offered at full price. Each additional pendant in the same order will receive a $15 discount.

How do I know that I’ll be happy with the finished product?

My work comes with a 100% satisfaction guarantee. My expectation is that your new Rainbow Bridge Pendant will become an instant heirloom and that you will be completely satisfied and happy with your pendant. If you are unhappy with the pendant for any reason you may return it and I will be happy to make another pendant for you.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Master Card, Visa, Discover Card and American Express through PayPal. (You don’t have to have a PayPal account to make payments thru PayPal.) I can accept checks, which will need to be deposited and cleared thru your checking account prior to beginning the work on your pendant. I cannot accept Money Orders at this time.

Do your store my credit card number?

No! My website does not collect or store your credit card information. Payment of your transaction is handled on PayPal’s secured site. Because PayPal processes your payment information I do not have access to your credit card information at any time.

When is my credit card charged?

Your credit card is charged as soon as you click on the “Make Payment” Option in PayPal. Within 2 business days I will send you the packaging to retrieve a small quantity of your pet’s ashes.

Personal Information

How do you use my personal information?

The only personal information I collect from you is your name, address and Email address. This information is not sold or given to anyone else for any reason at any time. I use this information ONLY to mail your pendant to you and to communicate progress to you.

Shipping and Postage

Is it legal to ship ashes?

Yes! Although the US Postal Service has no regulations governing the shipment of animal remains, Publication 52 deals with shipping human remains. The packaging that I provide you to return your pet’s ashes comply with the requirements of Publication 52 so you can be assured that your pet’s ashes are being packaged and shipped compliant to all USPS regulations.

How much do you charge for shipping?

I do not charge for USA domestic shipping. I use USPS Priority Mail exclusively. Upon receipt of your order I will send you a small vial and disposable spoon for you to use to retrieve a small amount of your pet’s ashes. You will use the spoon to pour a small amount of ash into the vial and then place the vial in the enclosed postage-paid Priority Mail box and return it to me. I will use the ashes you send to me in the creation of your pendant. Your completed pendant will be sent to you via Priority Mail, along with an 18” sterling silver Omega chain and any unused ashes.

Can you ship world-wide?

I do ship to all countries that allow the import of jewelry. You may refer to the following USPS site as a link to the various countries shipping and import restrictions. International shipping charges will be added to the price of the pendants.
